Iarnród Éireann joins the Open Doors Initiative

Proud to be an inclusive member of The Open Doors Initiative, helping people in need into education and employment.
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is proud to have become an inclusive member of The Open Doors Initiative, helping people in need into education and employment. We are one of a network of over 100 companies who are creating pathways to employment for marginalised people.
The Open Doors Initiative provides opportunities to some of the marginalised members of our society. Since its inception in September 2018, with 14 companies, more than 16,800 people have been helped on pathways to education and work. As part of this initiative we create pathways to work through training, education and employment. Some of the people we work with include:
- Refugee, asylum seekers and non-native English speakers.
- Young people under 25 with educational barriers.
- People with a disability.
The benefits of what we are doing is part of our sustainable workplace goals opening up the labour market to some of those who have been unable to access it; and in doing so we will attract and retain our future inclusive workforces. We are delighted to have had our 2021 Apprenticeship campaign listed on the Open Doors jobs page as an equal opportunities employer.
