Rail service issues arising from current weather event
Tuesday 7th January 2025
Rail service disruptions associated with the current snow / ice weather event across Ireland will be updated on this page. Met Éireann has advised of continuing weather warnings associated with snow/ice from 12:00hrs Monday 6th January to 12:00hrs Tuesday 7th January, with continuing cold weather warnings throughout the week.
Update: 12:40hrs, Tuesday 7th January
- All routes planned to operate, but delays & disruption may occur
- Ongoing 10/15 minute delays on some services on the Cork/Tralee/Limerick/Galway and Westport routes.
- Services are moving on all routes.
The following services are experiencing disruption:
- Cork route
- 10:25 Cork to Heuston is stopped between Charleville and Limerick Junction due to a mechanical issue. - A second engine is en route from Cork Kent.
- 11:25 Cork to Heuston held in Mallow.
- Tralee route:

- Due to heavy snow on the points in Banteer, ongoing service delays expected.
- Snow/Ice cleared from the points in Rathmore.

- Limerick route
- 10/15 minute delays between Limerick and Limerick Junction expected.
All other routes are operating - some minor delays may result.
