Employee Relations Manager, Railway Undertaking
Location – Connolly Station
Salary – Level 4A (€88,509 - €91,787)
Applications are invited for the position of Employee Relations Manager, Railway Undertaking within the Human Resources Dept. This role will report into the Head of Employee Relations.
The role of Employee Relations Manager, Railway Undertaking is responsible for contributing to the effective development of best practice Employee Relations policies and ensuring their consistent deployment across all functions of Railway Undertaking (RU). The successful candidate will support RU management with the development and implementation of successful employee relations strategies through leading change consultations with RU employees and their representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Advise and guide RU management and trade union officials/representatives on all matters of employee relations, terms, and conditions, to include, discipline, grievance resolution, performance management, pay terms, grading, allowances and other employment benefits.
- Lead consultations with the management to define the Employee Relations agenda for RU.
- Drive and oversee all Employee Relations initiatives across the RU.
- Develop creative and practical solutions for employee relations and employment legislation issues.
- Advise and support all areas of the business on employee relations matters to ensure effective management and compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
- Manage issues relating to collective bargaining, grievance and disciplinary procedures, performance and dispute resolution.
- Represent the company at internal and third-party hearings, i.e. Workplace Relations Commission conciliation and Adjudication Hearings, Labour Court, Joint Industrial Council and judicial hearings.
- Negotiation and resolution of internal issues as applicable.
- Monitor and advise the RU business of any potential compensation liability.
Performance Measures:
- Delivery of Employee Relations targets to agreed timescales.
- Successful implementation of new deals.
- Improvements in internal communications.
- Increase the efficiency of the Employee Relations team.
- Reduced instances of service disruption / disputes.
Business:
- Develop Employee Relations policies to support the delivery of strategic and operational business plans.
- Drive the resolution of Employee Relations issues at every level of the business.
- Assist with the development of the Employee Relations team.
- Support the RU HR Manager in the design, planning and implementation of all core HR activities.
- Liaise and support the RU business with any employee relations matters.
Requirements:
This role is for an individual who has strong knowledge of Employee Relations, a strategic focus, an action orientation, is passionate about people and the deployment of solutions that transform business outcomes.
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Employee/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or similar qualification.
- 5-years relevant Employee Relations/ Human Resources experience and in-depth knowledge of employment legislation
- In-depth knowledge of the workings of statutory machinery with regard to Employee Relations.
- Demonstrable capacity for conflict resolution.
- Demonstrable experience of writing submissions for third-party hearings.
- Strong Collaboration/Relationship Building Skills.
- The ability to communicate with impact.
- Organisational perspective.
Desirable:
- Good working knowledge of Railway Undertaking, Iarnród Éireann.
- Employee Relations experience in a unionised environment.
