Senior Finance Manager Project Accounting

Salary - 3C €93,927-€97,250 (3yr scale)
Manager - Project Accounting within the Capital Investments Division.
This role provides support to the Head of Finance Capital Investments. It will require strong commercial experience and a proven record in delivering management and financial reporting requirements and financial processes in a challenging economic environment.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include the following:
Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of the Capital Investments Finance team to deliver the business strategy that will continue to improve the financial performance of the department.
- Meet the financial reporting requirements for Capital Investments including a real financial and commercial understanding of the numbers from a project reporting perspective.
- Safeguard the organisations assets and funding lines by ensuring adequate levels of reporting and accountability.
- Manage timely and accurate preparation of all financial reporting to ensure requirements are met.
- Maintenance of systems and controls to ensure adequate backup documentation and audit trail for transactions.
- Develop cross functional teamwork and influencing skills to ensure objectives of the Finance function and Company are achieved.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Enhance and develop a standard project reporting template across all projects.
- Ensure that periodic project reports are completed in a timely manner, reviewed, challenged, and updated for all pertinent information.
- Monitor all project transactions, contracts, commitments, and POs in SAP and raise queries relating to these on an ongoing basis. Liaison with the appropriate contracts’ teams.
- Agree the tax treatment of each project and introduce controls to ensure that all transactions align with the agreed tax treatment.
- Review all project accruals and retentions at period end.
- Maintain a register of all project bonds. Review all unwinds and report on the status of all bonds at period end.
- Understand the project budget for each project and monitor performance against the budget for each project.
- Monitor performance against budget, reforecasts, and cash flow profiles on a periodic basis.
- Investigate variance commentaries provided by the project team and ensure that these are appropriately reflected in project finances.
- Review all change orders and contract variations – understand their impact on project budget and timing. Work with the project quantity surveyors to understand actual project progress and contract out-turns.
- Work with the project accountants to maintain ongoing project outturn estimates and updated project expenditure forecasts and cash flow forecasts.
- Review all board papers prior to submission with the project accountant and challenge the project cash flows included to ensure that they are appropriately robust.
- Develop and manage a suite of project KPI and trend reporting and report this information to the Head of Finance Capital Investments and the broader finance team at period end.

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Accountant
- Minimum 8+ years post qualification experience
- Financial management experience, strong corporate governance aptitude and commercial experience is required.
- Significant proven track record and experience in the financial reporting, periodic end process and managing to tight reporting deadlines.
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team of accountants.
Desirable
- Ability to meet tight deadlines consistently providing timely, accurate and relevant financial data, and to take end to end ownership for delivery.
- Motivated and a self-starter with initiative and a strong emphasis on delivery and execution
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Adaptability and initiative, strong sense of integrity and responsibility
- Practical financial control experience and a track record of management experience operating at a high level in the organisation.
- Very strong communication skills
- Project Management experience with ability to plan, initiate, monitor, and implement project deliverables within a team.
- Strong knowledge of FRS102 reporting requirements
- Good working knowledge of SAP applications
