Applications are invited for the position of General Manager (Rosslare Europort), in Iarnród Éireann.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Commercial Business Units Iarnród Éireann, The General Manager Rosslare Europort is responsible for overseeing the day-day operations, management and strategic development of the port. The GM ensures the safe, efficient and cost-effective operations of the port while delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, profitability and compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires a dynamic leader with extensive senior experience in transport/port management, logistics and/or operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead all operational, safety, commercial and customer experience aspects of the port.
- Deliver strategic goals, including port growth, infrastructure development, operational efficiency, and safety management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with port stakeholders including shipping companies, government agencies and local businesses.
- Ensure compliance with national and international port safety and environmental regulations.
- Drive the development of Smart Port technologies and customer-first strategies.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team aligned with Iarnród Éireann’s core people values.
- Report regularly on performance metrics and strategic progress.
Essential
- Degree in Business, Transport, Logistics, Operations, Finance or related subject material
- A passion for customer experience and commercial growth
- Leadership and change management skills
- Experience managing and/or directing a sizeable transport, logistics, operations, freight or port business
- Experience of transport, logistics and/or port safety management and operations
- Experience in strategic agenda setting and implementation
- Possess strong leadership, managerial and communication skills along with the ability to confront and resolve personnel and technical challenges
- Ability to manage and influence key stakeholder groups within the sector
Desirable
- A Masters’ degree in above referenced subject material
- A minimum or 10+ years progressively working in the Transport, Operations, Logistics, Freight or port industry at a senior level.
