6 month contract – maternity cover
Reports to: Head of Corporate Communications
The role will see the successful candidate enhance the service provision by Iarnród Éireann through the Irish language, and work to achieve compliance with the Official Languages Acts 2003-2021.
Key Responsibilities
- To promote awareness of and compliance with Official Languages Act within Iarnród Éireann with a particular emphasis on public facing communication, including marketing, signage,social media and other key communication platforms.
- To work with colleagues to ensure Gaeilge policies for the organisation are delivered
- To develop initiatives to encourage greater usage of the Irish language by Iarnród Éireann colleagues, and engagement with customers through Irish
- To engage with key stakeholders including An Coimisinéir Teanga concerning matters related to the Irish language
- Participation in Cumann na nOifigeach Gaeilge - national Irish language officer network.

Essential criteria
- Fluent in written and spoken Irish (minimum B2 TEG)
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislation
Desirable criteria
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Gaeilge
- Experience in compliance related matters in a large and dispersed organisation, particularly related to Official Languages Act
- Experience in promoting positive initiatives focusing on employee and customer engagement
- Ensure language standards are implemented across the organisation in line with An Caighdeán Oifigiúil, 2017
