Who is eligible for this ticket?

  • Free Travel/DSFA Pass Holders

What are the conditions of travel?

Customers who hold a Free Travel / DSFA Pass can book on their chosen service by selecting the 'Free Travel Pass' option in the Passenger selection box. Customers are advised there is limited availability for Free Travel bookings online.

  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

What are the conditions of travel?

Where there is doubt regarding the age qualification, it is the responsibility of the passenger or their guardian or parent to produce satisfactory evidence of age when requested by any Iarnród Éireann staff member. Amendments and cancellations are subject to the fare purchased ie Low, Semi Flexible, Flexible, First Class. 

Children under 5 years travel free in standard class on any Iarnród Éireann services when accompanied by a passenger holding a valid ticket, provided children do not occupy seats required for paying passengers. Failure to produce a valid ticket, appropriate ID or surcharge where necessary will result in a fine of €100 together with the relevant unpaid fare.

  • Young Adults (19-25 years) and Students in full time education

What are the conditions of travel?

  • Customers must be in possession of a  TFI Young Adult (19-25 years) Leap Card or a TFI Student Leap Card to avail of student discounted tickets
  • Individual third level institution cards or ISIC cards are no longer accepted as valid forms of ID
  • Amendments and cancellations are subject to the fare purchased ie Low, Semi Flexible, Flexible, First Class
  • Failure to produce a valid ticket, appropriate valid ID or surcharge where necessary will result in a fine and the relevant unpaid fare.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Architectural Technician to provide professional support in the design and management of construction projects. You will work closely with the Manager of the Architects Section, contributing to high-profile projects within our network enhancements team.

Key Responsibilities:

General

  • Report to the Programme Manager, ensuring projects meet time, cost, scope, and quality standards per Iarnród Éireann, Infrastructure Maintainer, and NTA guidelines.
  • Develop design concepts and progress them to detailed designs, incorporating planning permissions and specialist inputs.
  • Assist in preparing planning applications, including site plans, elevations, and models.
  • Support tendering by preparing technical specifications and evaluating submissions.
  • Oversee construction, inspect works, approve contractor drawings, and ensure compliance with contract documents.

Safety

  • Adhere to all Iarnród Éireann safety policies and procedures.
  • Represent the MAP Section at internal and external meetings, ensuring corporate policy compliance.
  • Fulfill Safety Responsibility Statement requirements and contribute to safety initiatives.
  • Monitor safety performance, staff standards, and procedures.

Finance

  • Ensure accurate recording of work hours against chargeable and non-chargeable items

Essential Requirements

  • A third level qualification in Architectural Technology or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an Architectural Design office
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Have the ability to prepare rendered designs for use in photomontages.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A good working knowledge of Building Regulations, BC(A)R processes, Health & Safety Regulations, Disability, Accessibility and Planning laws.
  • Full Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing and delivering technical information, including drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, etc. for Architectural disciplines within projects.
  • Good working knowledge of 3D modelling, BIM processes / software applications and Photoshop.
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
  • Experience of working in a railway environment would be beneficial.
  • Experience of production and management of funding applications for the National Transport Authority.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Regulations.
  • Ability to produce tender documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of IM technical approvals processes for track and signalling.
  • Experience of new build and building refurbishment projects.

Interview Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience of holding responsibility for delivery of drawings, documentation, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience of holding responsibility for managing contracts on site
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills/ communications skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Planning & Organisational skills.
