Human Factors Specialist

Salary: 4A-€88,508.78 - €91,786.86 (3year scale)
Iarnród Éireann is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Principal Human Factors Specialist. Based at Connolly Station, the successful candidate will report into the Head of Human Factors, providing support for the integration of Human Factors in Capital Investment and Change Management projects as well as developing and supporting delivery of Human Factors training to the business.
Iarnród Éireann is embarking on a decade of delivery, with exciting projects to expand the network and fleet both in the greater Dublin area and nationwide. The human factors team supports the delivery of these projects through our human factors assurance process, and we also support the day-to-day business through developing human factors knowledge and competence in key roles. You will be a part of an enthusiastic and supportive team with opportunities to work across all parts of the railway organisation.
The role will be offered on a fixed term contract basis initially with potential for permanency. Performance measures will be set and reviewed by the Head of Human Factors.
Key responsibilities
- Implement the Human Factors Assurance process as documented in Irish Rail Safety Management System on assigned projects
- Liaise and coordinate with programme and project managers
- Attend hazard record workshops for assigned projects and provide analysis of human factors related hazards
- Identify and manage human factors requirements
- Undertake human factors analysis as required on any procedural or other internal changes resulting from the project, using appropriate HF methods
- Review and accept all Human Factors deliverables relating to assigned projects
- Develop and deliver training on human factors and non-technical skills
- Lead human factors input to investigations
Ultimately, you will ensure Iarnród Éireann successfully integrates human factors into safety management, particularly in terms of change management, and thus improve the safety and efficiency of rail transport in Ireland.

Requirements and Skills
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (preferably human factors, psychology, or systems engineering)
- A minimum of five years working in Human Factors in a Safety Critical industry
- A strong knowledge of Human Factors approaches and theories
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of working in the rail industry
- We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with a strong background in applying HF on projects and/or in developing and delivering HF training.
- Registered member of the CIEHF, or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience of the following human factors methods: human factors integration, task analysis, workload assessment, human error analysis, physical ergonomics, environmental design.
- Familiarity with Safety Management Systems & change management procedures
