  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

ICT Business Continuity Manager

Iarnród Éireann / Irish Rail is seeking applications for those suitably qualified in the role of ICT Business Continuity Manager. The ICT BCM will play a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of the organization’s ICT business continuity and disaster recovery programs. This individual will be responsible for co-ordinating activities that support resilience and recovery, ensuring that business processes are maintained in the event of a disruption. The Business Continuity Manager will collaborate with all of Iarnród Éireann’s various departments to ensure preparedness, risk mitigation, testing and compliance with regulatory standards. The BCP Manager will also lead on all Business Continuity internal and external audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the company’s Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies
  • Coordinate risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical business functions and potential risks
  • Work closely with departmental teams to develop and document continuity strategies and processes i.e. Work around procedures
  • Organize and facilitate business continuity training and awareness programs across the organization
  • Schedule, conduct, and evaluate regular BCP and DR tests, including simulation exercises and tabletop scenarios
  • Implement continuous improvements from lessons learned from various scenarios
  • Monitor and track action items from continuity tests, ensuring that necessary improvements and updates are made to recovery plans
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure IT systems and infrastructure meet recovery requirements
  • Support crisis management efforts during real-time incidents, coordinating resources and communication to minimize operational downtime
  • Prepare and distribute reports on business continuity program status and test outcomes to management
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to business continuity and disaster recovery
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, such as ISO 22301, NIST CSF 2.0, NIS 2.0, Critical Entities Resilience Act
  • Assist in maintaining and updating emergency communication protocols and key contacts within the organization
  • Work with internal and external auditors on an annual basis

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Information Technology, Business Continuity and/or a related field (Master’s Degree Preferable)
  • Certifications such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) or MBCI (Member of the Business Continuity Institute) are a plus
  • 5-10 years of experience in business continuity planning, risk management, business continuity continuous improvements, business continuity testing and auditing
  • Knowledge of business continuity standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 22301, NIS 2.0, CER, NIST CSF 2.0)
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and continuity plan testing
  • Experience working with external and internal auditors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Capable of managing crisis situations and responding calmly under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and business continuity software platforms
