  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Assistant Project Manager, Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme (CACR)

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Project Manager, Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme (CACR) within the Capital Investments Dept. This role will report into the Project Manager CACR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager CACR in the development of Infrastructure
  • Responsibility in your area of control for the feasibility work, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover of projects
  • You will completely and fully deliver your responsibilities as specified in the Safety Responsibility Statement and Safety Management System (SMS) which accompanies this role
  • Management of internal and external project resources to deliver the CACR programme to the agreed scope, programme and budget
  • Management of project stakeholders to ensure expectations are met throughout the project
  • Plan, monitor and report on all financial aspects of those works for which you are responsible
  • Ensure that all project expenditure is properly authorised

Essential Requirements

  • Third Level Qualification: MA Building, Engineering, Construction or Project Management degree
  • Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body
  • Minimum of 5 years project engineering experience in Railways or relevant regulated engineering environment
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Excellent IT Skills and knowledge of relevant software
  • Ability to influence others, e.g. during negotiations between the different parties to the project
  • Relevant general management and project management experience
  • Demonstrable ability to produce and manage budgets and schedules of similar size projects
  • Proven commercial skills, awareness and experience (pre and post-contract duties) on large construction projects
  • Demonstrable ability to manage and administer construction contracts
  • Detailed knowledge and application of the Public Works suite of contracts

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of Railway Systems
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure and railway operations
  • Demonstrable understanding of good Project Management Procedures
  • Experience in managing design consultants, contractors
  • Knowledge of contract management and the Public Works Contracts
  • Knowledge of the Construction Regulations
  • Experience in the implementation of Safety Management Systems
  • Previous working experience on railway related projects
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team including; signalling, electrical, telecoms, civils, structures, track, environmental and construction elements
