  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Capital Investments are seeking suitably qualified candidates for the position of Site Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team at a time of huge growth and investment.

The successful candidate will assist the Construction Manager, Structures section, with the delivery of departmental projects to authorised budget, time, quality and scope targets.

Responsibilities

The range of duties include but are not limited to:

Specific Responsibilities

Engineering

  • Assist the Construction Manager in the delivery of NE projects
  • Responsibility in your area of control for the quality of construction, commissioning and handover of projects
  • Maintaining accurate records of site activities
  • Reporting to the relevant project Manager on all aspects of the project on a regular basis

Safety

  • You will completely and fully deliver your responsibilities as specified in the
  • Safety Responsibility Statement which accompanies this role
  • Adhere to the requirements of Capital Investments Safety Management Procedure for Project Audits/Safety tours
  • Observe and comply with all IE, IM and Capital Investments department policies, standards and procedures and facilitate compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System
  • Undertake and manage incident investigations as requested

People

  • Comply with corporate HR policy and procedures
  • Collaboration with internal and external project resources to deliver projects to the agreed scope, programme and budget

Finance

  • Plan, monitor and report on all financial aspects of those works for which you are responsible
  • Ensure that all project expenditure is properly authorised
  • Prepare and manage budgets as necessary ensuring all chargeable and non-chargeable items (person hours) are accurately captured
  • Undertake all activities in line with the Iarnród Éireann governing procurement policies and procedures
  • Support the Project Manager in the preparation of quarterly interim and annual stewardship reports, identifying:
    • Performance against each objective
    • Actual and forecast expenditure against budget

Key Qualities

Essential

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in supervision of complex construction activities
  • Excellent knowledge of civil engineering and building construction techniques and practices
  • Excellent knowledge of the Construction Safety Regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of on-site testing (e.g. slump tests) and quality management practices in the civil engineering / building construction field
  • Good organisational skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant general management and project management experience

Desirable

  • A formal qualification in construction supervision / construction management
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure and railway operations
  • Knowledge of contract management and the Public Works Contracts
  • Experience in the implementation of Safety Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Building Control Regulations

Interview Competencies

  • Experience with civil engineering/construction design / site management
  • Technical expertise and knowledge - Engineering
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability in planning and organising
  • Problem solving/Judgement
